“I don’t have time.”
Sound familiar?
If yes, you’re not alone. I hear this all the time when working with ambitious women professionals like yourself, AND I’m also guilty of leaning into this LIE myself from time to time as well!
TIME. Something we all seem to want more of – or at least to manage more effectively.
This week the latest ACCELLE Elite cohort completed the productivity and time management module. It seems like this module couldn’t have come at a better time for our participants. If there’s one thing ALL my clients have in common? It’s the constant quest for maximizing productivity and mastering time management.
So today I not only want to address this lie, but I want to dive in and share how you might be wasting your time, along with some tips on how to STOP this from happening in the future.
Let’s start with some math. Did you know…
The average individual spends over 60 minutes consuming (aka browsing!) social media per day?
PLUS another 2-3 hours watching TV or streaming shows.
THAT’S 4 HOURS GONE. Every day!
If we keep running the numbers….
4 hours per day, times 7 days per week = 28HRS of LOST TIME per week.
That’s 3.5 EIGHT HOUR WORKDAYS lost per week.
But maybe social media or TV isn’t YOUR issue. I know not ALL of us suffer from this!
Maybe instead you are losing time simply meandering without an agenda. Maybe you are losing time due to a lack of goals, lack of a plan, or distractions like EMAIL and SLACK?
Regardless of the distraction or time waster, the lost hours can be a HUGE cost to your life!
Because if we continue with the math when it comes to lost time…
Four hours per day over 30 days = 120 hours = 15 WORKDAYS PER MONTH. Of LOST TIME!
That’s crazy right?
So based on my calculations, the average person loses over 15 days… every. single. month.
This means they could have TWO MORE WORK WEEKS per month, focused on their personal passions, family, health, side hustle, or whatever they want – each and every month!
You might be thinking – these numbers are outrageous. Okay fair. So let’s say maybe you only lose 2 hours per day to distractions.
Even with 2 hours a day, that is still 7.5 eight hour workdays GONE every month, or 90 full days gone per year = 3 MONTHS!!!
So when I share the BIGGEST LIE I hear from people is “I don’t have time.” This is why.
There is time.
Perhaps what you need is to focus on how you are CHOOSING to spend it?
There is time to grow. There is time to take steps towards achieving your personal AND professional goals.
